A Purcell Ball

1995 was the tercentenary of the death of Henry Purcell, arguably England’s greatest composer. A suggestion was made at the time to include dances to tunes by Purcell for our Annual Ball programme. This album is the result.

The 19 dances presented here are a mixture comprising 14 dances published during or just after Purcell’s lifetime and 5 modern compositions to tunes by Purcell. ‘Black Bess’ and ‘Tythe Pig’ are included in the album.

The original CD Booklet as a PDF is included when purchasing the whole album.
